Swarna Gajraj: Hand-Painted Wooden Elephant Wall Decor
Swarna means golden, and this Gajraj shines with a warm yellow face, a mirror-studded flower on the forehead and a maroon headband with a jewel at its centre. The sky-blue ears carry large paisleys ringed with tiny mirrors, and the curled trunk ends in a blue tip painted with white swirls.
In Rajasthan the elephant leads royal processions and festival parades, and it is welcomed in homes as a symbol of strength, wisdom and good fortune. Hang Swarna Gajraj in the entrance, above a console or in the living room as a statement piece, or gift it for a griha pravesh, Diwali or a wedding.
