Firozi Gajraj: Hand-Painted Wooden Elephant Wall Decor
Firozi is the turquoise of old Rajasthani jewellery, and this Gajraj pairs it with flame-orange ears for a striking contrast. Fine dot work, small mirrors and paisley motifs run down the face, the ears are patterned in white and gold, and the curled trunk ends in red and yellow stripes.
In Rajasthan the elephant leads royal processions and festival parades, and it is welcomed in homes as a symbol of strength, wisdom and good fortune. Hang Firozi Gajraj in the entrance, above a console or in the living room as a statement piece, or gift it for a griha pravesh, Diwali or a wedding.
